Michael Yon's blog. I think it accurately reflects the mood and thinking of average Iranians and not the government dominated by Shia extremist from the 1979 revolution, ushered in by Jimmy Carter's political bungling, very similar to what Obama/Clinton et al are doing with the Arab Spring.
There are two reasons I am posting this; One, I often hear educated people say, "I wish Israel would go ahead and nuke Iran and get it over with." In that event nothing will be gotten over with except the end of western civilization as we know it. Yes, it looks like the government of Iran is fast approaching their day of reckoning and millions of innocent people, not just in Iran but all over the world, here in America too, will pay the price for Iran's dictators genocidal rush to acquire nuclear weapons. Some in both Israeli and American intelligence feel this could happen before the end of the year.
Wouldn't that be ironic if it coincided with the Mayan calender ending in December 2012 ? Just sayin.
The second reason I have is to make readers aware that average Iranian people, even though they are Muslim are good people. And they hold American values and life in much higher esteem than even our own President does. I lived in the mideast during and after 911 and very few people are aware that the day after 911 there were over 20,000 Iranians marching in the streets of Tehran shouting, "death to terrorist, support USA." For different political reasons the US and Iranian governments did everything they could to quash this news. Even Al-Jazeerah had a hard time getting this out.
Though I support Israel's right to exist and protect their sovereign state, dealing with this situation is no easy task as we have been shown time and again, appeasement and international cooperation does not work. It will be no easy decision to launch the first air strike without first being attacked, knowing that this will set off a worldwide chain of events that will probably become TEOTWAWKI for billions.
“To make the long story short people in Iran, not just youth, hate the government and want to move out of the country as soon as they can. My sister [deleted] is moving to [deleted] with her husband this July and then when my mother gets retired, me, my younger sister [deleted] and my parents will sell our house and move to live with them. My father isn’t convinced yet but all he needs is time, I’m sure he will choose to come with us.
“I am a patriot and I will remain one no matter where I am, but lets face it. Things are bad and getting worse as every day goes by. I have plans for my future and do not want to stay in a country where my skills and capabilities are most likely going to waste.
"The Iranians do not hate you nor do they hate ur government. This is all the media. The people have nothing to do with the media Michael. No one is against you here except for those on the government's side. Unfortunately they’re not few, they’re actually many, but they won’t last forever. Someday this is all gonna turn upside down. Sometimes I ask myself do I wanna be here for the next revolution? I dunno ...
